Dr Andrew MacGill has a weekly skin cancer clinic at the Rodney Surgical Centre (RSC). For the remainder of the week he works on the North Shore. He is trained in dermoscopy which involves looking at skin through a special instruement allowing for more accurate diagnoses. Being proficient in dermoscopy means less lesions require excising. Andrew uses the lastest dermoscopic equipment and computor aided technologies available.

A full skin examination is recommended on an annual basis for all adult New Zealanders. When women are examined they undress behind a curtain and then lie on the examination table in their underware covered by a sheet. Only the area being examined is uncovered at any one time.

Andrew is an affilliated provider for Southern Cross. He also has a public position at Waitakere hospital and does contract skin cancer cases on behalf of the Waitemata district health board at RSC and on the Shore. He teaches other GPs in both dermoscopy and surgical skills. Over the past 20 years he has diagnosed and removed hundreds of melanomas. He takes pride in removing lesions with minimal discomfort and makes every effort to ensure the best possible cosmetic outcome.
