Andrew Kitcher is a new member of Pulmonary Critical Care Consultants of Austin. He completed medical school at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, and then Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai, also in New York. Before starting a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at UCSD, he spent a year as a hospitalist and instructor at Columbia. After completing his fellowship, he stayed on as faculty to start up and direct a new ICU at an affiliate hospital of UCSD, Temecula Valley Hospital. While at UCSD, his primary research interest was in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and dead space ventilation. He worked on quality improvement including ICU sepsis goals, line and antibiotic de-escalation, stroke care and "brain code" training, nurse training in bedside ultrasound use, and the safety and efficacy of chronic Azithromycin therapy in veterans with COPD.
