Andrew Dhawan MD, PhD, DPhil, FRCPC

Dr. Andrew Dhawan is a Neuro-Oncologist and Physician-Scientist at the Cleveland Clinic. He holds positions in both the Lerner Research Institute and the Taussig Cancer Center, where he is part of the Rose Ella Burkhardt Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center.

Dr. Dhawan's background is unique, combining medicine with a strong foundation in mathematics and computer science. He applies this interdisciplinary approach to his research, focusing on using data science, computational biology, and mathematical biology to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of neurological disorders, particularly brain tumors.

Dhawan's research focuses on various neurological conditions, including glioblastoma, glioma, meningioma, PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome, tuberous sclerosis complex, and leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, with a particular interest in the brain tumor microenvironment and developing biomarkers. Dr. Dhawan is also involved in patient care, emphasizing strong relationships with patients and their families. He has contributed to clinical care guidelines for PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome and developed a computational tool called sigQC for evaluating gene signature quality.
