Professor Cant has been awarded grants of over £6 million to support research into childhood tuberculosis, meningococcal disease, the epidemiology and pathology of primary immune deficiencies and bone marrow transplantation for primary immune deficiencies; leading to 200 peer reviewed papers. In recognition of this, Professor Cant was awarded a Personal Chair by the University of Newcastle in 2004.
