Andrew C. Eppstein, MD, FACS, joined the Indiana University School of Medicine as full-time faculty at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in July 2009. He received his MD degree at Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. During his residency, he researched the inhibition of cellular pathways in pediatric cancer neuroblastoma. After residency, he completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He was recruited back to IU to enhance the laparoscopic program at the Roudebush VA Medical Center, a tertiary care hospital that serves the veteran populations of Indiana and Central and Eastern Illinois. His major clinical interests are laparoscopic hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, laparoscopic antireflux procedures, and gastric malignancies. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS), and the Association of VA Surgeons (AVAS).
