Dr. Sosa is a board-certified pulmonary and critical care physician who practiced as an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Where he helped develop the Interventional Pulmonary Service and collaborated with the Critical Care Operations Committee on quality improvement projects for the ICUs. In 2016 he accepted a position in the Baptist Hospital ICU and moved to Miami. He joined Miami Pulmonary Specialists in March 2018.

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Sosa received his medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela -Luis Razetti- in 2002. He completed an internship in general surgery in the Brown University program at Rhode Island Hospital. He then went on to do his residency in internal medicine and pulmonary and critical care fellowship at UMass Memorial Medical Center at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Sosa is one of the very few interventional pulmonologists who are formally trained and board certified by the American Association of Bronchlogy and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP). His interventional pulmonary training took place at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston in the Harvard University Program. His clinical interests include benign and malignant central airway obstruction and pleural disease, as well as diagnosis and staging of thoracic malignancies using advanced bronchoscopic technologies. Dr. Sosa also specializes in the treatment of general pulmonary diseases such as asthma, COPD, sarcoidosis, and interstitial lung disease.
