I am a board-certified psychiatrist, and I graduated from the University of Chile School of Medicine and completed my first psychiatry residency training at same university in 1989. I traveled to the USA in 1991 to pursue postdoctoral training on neuropsychiatric aspects of HIV infection and late life psychosis at the University of California, San Diego. In 2001, I finished my second psychiatry residency training and joined the UCSD faculty the same year. At UCSD, I served as Associate Training Director for the residency training program, and as course Co-Director for Clinical Foundations at the school of medicine.
