Andreas Zuckermann, MD, is a Staff Surgeon in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna in Austria and has the position of Director of Cardiac Transplantation for one of the biggest cardiac transplants programs in Europe. Dr. Zuckermann was a member of the board of Directors of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) and Co-chair of the International and Inter-Society Coordination Committee (I2C2) of ISHLT and was the program chair of the 2015 ISHLT meeting and the 2016 ECTTA meeting. Currently, he is a member of the board of the Thoracic committee (ECTTA) of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) and a member of the board of Eurotransplant. He holds positions in ET’s thoracic advisory committee as well as the organ procurement committee.
His main fields of research are clinical use of immunosuppressive drugs, risk factor analysis in cardiac transplantation, new preservation technologies, and new developments in precision medicine in cardiac transplantation. In addition, Dr. Zuckermann has been an invited speaker at many national and international meetings and has been involved in the teaching and training of experts from many global transplant centers.
