Andreas Meisel is a Professor of Neurology at the NeuroCure Clinical Research Center and Director at the Center for Stroke Research Berlin (CSB), Charité University Medicine Berlin, Germany. He is a consultant at the neurointensive care unit and the integrated myasthenia gravis Center, Department of Neurology, Charité. Andreas Meisel studied medicine at the Humboldt University Berlin and was an EMBO fellow at the Biocenter, University of Basel, Switzerland.
Andreas Meisel received his neurology training at the Charité, Berlin. His main clinical interests are stroke and neurocritical care as well as neuromuscular disorders. His major areas of experimental and clinical research are immune responses to stroke and endogenous mechanisms of brain protection. Meisel's group develops novel diagnostic biomarkers and strategies for the treatment of post-stroke complications. He served on the editorial board of the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism, PLOS ONE, and BMC Neurology. Andreas Meisel is heading the Berlin Stroke Alliance.
