Andy Adam is Professor of Interventional Radiology at Kings College London. He has worked in several fields of interventional radiology, especially in biliary and oesophageal disease. His work on metallic biliary stents is considered by many to have provided the first convincing evidence of the great clinical value of these devices and his publications on the palliation of oesophageal cancer have contributed to a change in the treatment of this condition both in this country and in the United States.

Andy Adam has received a number of important awards, including the Gold Medals of the British and European Interventional Radiological Societies, and the Medal of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and today we are delighted to offer him the fellowship of our Academy.
