Andrea Monti Hughes is a senior researcher at the National Atomic Energy Commission and the National Research Council of Argentina. Since 2007, she has studied BNCT for the treatment of different pathologies, mainly devoted to translational BNCT studies in the hamster cheek pouch oral cancer and precancer model. She got her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in 2012. With national and international collaborations, she evaluates new boron compounds and strategies to optimize BNCT therapeutic efficacy and reduce BNCT-induced toxicity. She coordinated BNCT clinical–veterinary studies in patients with head and neck cancer. She has 4 international BNCT awards and 2 national academic recognitions from the UBA. She is a member of the Board of Councillors, the Communication task force, the Radiobiology working group of the ISNCT (International Society of Neutron Capture Therapy, https://isnct.net/), and the PTCOG (Particle Cooperative Group) BNCT working group.
