Andreas H. Groll, MD, is Professor of Paediatrics, Head of the Infectious Disease Research Programme and Deputy Director of the Department of Haematology/Oncology at the University Children's Hospital in Münster, Germany. Dr Groll qualified from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University School of Medicine in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. His postgraduate education included residency training in pathology and paediatrics at the University Hospital in Frankfurt, fellowships in infectious diseases at the Children's Hospital in Boston, USA, and in paediatric haematology/oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Dr. Groll is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and Infectious Diseases. Dr.Groll’s major research interests include infectious complications in the immunocompromised host, particularly invasive fungal infections and respiratory viral infections, the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antimicrobial agents, and the design and conduct of clinical research studies. He is regularly engaged in patient care as Attending Physician of the inpatient and outpatient service and the hematopoietic stem cell transplant program.
