I work as researcher for the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) and I am based at the Sezione di Pavia. I am a nuclear physicists and I work in the field of low energy particle physics, mainly with antiprotons and protons on the experimental side, with the focus of my activity on particle detectors design and simulation, data acquisition and data analysis techniques, not forgetting lecturing.
My activities are twofold, covering both pure research on fundamental physics and applied research to practical purposes:
in basic physics, my scientific interests lie at the border between nuclear and atomic physics and are connected with the study of the properties of exotic system of elementary particles, like glueballs, hybrids, exotic mesons and hypernuclei on the nuclear side and antihydrogen, protonium and kaium on the atomic side. These studies will shed new light on the basic interaction forces that rule Universe, particularly on the strong force and on gravity.
in applied physics, my fields of interest are connected with the topics of homeland security and of hadrontherapy.
