Dr. med. Andrea Azzola was born in Locarno in 1970. In 1989 he attended the medical school of the University of Basel where he graduated in 1995. Dr. med. Azzola deals with the treatment of the entire spectrum of respiratory diseases in inpatient and outpatient, including bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive bronchitis and pneumonia, the diagnosis and treatment of lung tumors (bronchoscopy) and other rare diseases such as interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary hypertension, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. Fields of particular interest are diagnostic bronchoscopy, pulmonary interstitial and "orphan" diseases such as pulmonary hypertension.

After a full practice as a doctor assistant in Ticino (1996-2000) Training in Switzerland at the University Hospital of Basel (2000-2005). In 2000 he moved to Sydney working as a medical assistant in pulmonary medicine at the Institute of respiratory diseases at the University of Nova Scotia. In 2004 holds the position of senior physician in Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of Basel, in 2005 the senior physician with senior editor substitute function in more and intensive care medicine at the University Hospital of Basel. Since 2006 he is active as a senior editor of Pneumology at the Lugano Regional Hospital (Civic and the two Italian locations), where he worked as a consultant and Head of internal medicine part-time even with the Cure Intense Interdisciplinary service.
