Prof. Thor Einar Andersen MD, PT, PhD, PM&R Head of football medicine research at the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Centre in the Department of Sports Medicine at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Norway. He is a trained physiotherapist, consultant physician, a specialist in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and an authorized Sports Medicine Physician. His main research areas are football injury epidemiology, injury mechanisms, and causes, as well as injury prevention. Thor Einar is the Chief medical officer in The Football Association of Norway. He has served as team physician for the senior male national team from 2002-2014. He is the medical director at the Norwegian FA Medical Clinic. Thor Einar has a strong connection with high-level football having played professionally winning two Norwegian championships with IK Start.
