Anders Mälarstig, PhD, is Director of Human Genetics & Computational Biomedicine at Pfizer, as well as an affiliate researcher at the Karolinska Institue. Dr. Mälarstig obtained his PhD under professor Lars Wallentin at Uppsala University, before taking up a postdoctoral research position at the Karolinska Institute.
He then joined Pfizer in Cambridge UK, as director of human genetics and was also co-director of the collaborative Pfizer-Cambridge University Centre for CVD genomics. In his current position with Pfizer in Stockholm, Dr. Mälarstig is responsible for developing and applying strategies for new drug targets and precision medicine. His presentation will describe how the study of protein quantitative trait loci (pQTL) that link genetic polymorphisms with protein expression levels can improve our understanding of biological mechanisms to facilitate precision medicine.
