Anders Linden MD, PhD

Dr. Anders Linden was born in Malmö, Sweden, in 1961. He obtained his MD at the University of Gothenburg in 1988. Here, he also received his PhD in respiratory medicine and pharmacology in 1992, with Professor Bengt-Eric Skoogh as the main supervisor. Still, in Gothenburg, Dr. Lindén completed his clinical internship in 1993. From 1993–1995, he trained as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California San Francisco, supervised by Professor Jay A Nadel. He then returned to the University of Gothenburg where he became an Associate professor in Experimental Respiratory Medicine in 1998. In 1999, he became a clinical specialist in Respiratory Medicine. He then trained for and became a clinical specialist in Allergology in 2003.

In 2004, he was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Melbourne, with Professor Gary P Anderson as a mentor. In 2006, he was awarded a professorship in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Gothenburg, combined with a position as a senior consultant at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. In 2012, he was awarded a professorship in Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, combined with a position as a senior consultant in Respiratory Medicine and Allergology at Karolinska University Hospital. His main scientific interest is pulmonary host defense in asthma and COPD and he is the author of 135 peer-reviewed scientific publications. He has successfully trained altogether twenty-two PhD graduates and postdoctoral research fellows. He has been a member of the editorial boards of Respiratory Research and Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine and several national boards in Respiratory Medicine.
