Ananda Nanu is trained in the north-east of England and Liverpool where he completed a master's degree in orthopedic surgery. he led the pelvic and acetabular reconstruction service in Sunderland, providing a surgical service for the management of this complex traumatic injury until the establishment of the MTC in Newcastle. He has performed a hip replacement on was 11 and the oldest 99. he deals with failed hip replacements and their removal and reconstruction.

He is the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. he has been a Council Member of the British Orthopaedic Association since 2013 and a member of the Executive since 2015. He is the President of the British Orthopaedic Association for 2017-2018 during the Centenary of the BOA. He has contributed to several publications and he is a chapter author of the Oxford Textbook of Orthopaedics (2011 edition). He runs his private practice from Spire Washington Hospital and is available to choose and book appointments.
