Ana Marie Torres is a nurse practitioner who specializes in caring for patients who are donating their kidneys or a portion of their livers to those in need of a transplant. She coordinates presurgical testing for the living donors as well as their follow-up care after the procedure.
With a focus on supporting the organ system's health, Torres also helps address the needs of living donors. These may include short- and long-term financial needs in addition to physical, psychological, social and practical needs. Accordingly, her research explores the welfare of living donors.
Torres earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing through the adult nurse practitioner program at UCSF. She is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American Society of Transplantation and California Association for Nurse Practitioners.
