Dr. Ana Pereira completed Neurology residency at Harvard University, with sub-specialty trainings in Cognitive Neurology at Columbia University and Translational and Clinical Investigation at Rockefeller University in New York City. Clinically, she evaluates patients at the Center for Cognitive Health at The Mount Sinai Hospital having expertise in diagnosing and treating neurodegenerative disorders and other cognitive syndromes. Dr. Ana Pereira’s research focuses on furthering knowledge of the neurobiology of Aging and Alzheimer’s disease taking into account the selective vulnerability of glutamatergic neural circuits to synaptic changes in Aging and neuronal loss in Alzheimer’s disease. She seeks to explore mechanisms underlying these susceptibilities along with effective therapeutic interventions. Dr. Pereira and her lab members have been studying glutamatergic neuronal susceptibility with modern quantitative cell biology methods in conjunction with molecular tools and functional assays.
