Dr. Amy Herlihy is a Medical Doctor, an Author, an Autism expert, and a mother to her 3 children – Oscar, Ruby, and Charlie. She is also a Fellow of the Medical Academy of Paediatric Special Needs and a GAPs practitioner. A medical graduate from UCC in 2002, Amy pursued her passion for Accident & Emergency and trained at the world renowned Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Hospital. Whilst completing her medical training in Edinburgh, Amy worked in General Practice and obtained her MRCS and MRCGP with distinction.

In 2008, after the birth of her first son, Amy returned home to Cork. Very soon Amy became personally interested in Autism Spectrum Disorder. After witnessing first hand the dramatic effects dietary changes could have on autism-associated behaviors, speech delay, and sleep, Amy began studying biomedical treatments for Autism in earnest. In 2012 she traveled to her first DAN (Defeat Autism Now) conference in New York. She is Ireland’s only MAPs doctor. Amy is also a fully qualified GAPs Practitioner and is also currently completing a Masters in Nutritional Medicine with the University of Surrey.

In 2014 Amy set up Special Kids Medical Clinic, a leading special needs service, providing specialist consultation on diet and nutrition. Special Kids Medical Clinic is a unique offering in Ireland and provides hope to all parents who have children with Special Needs.
