Amy Bardin-Spencer, EdD(c), MS, RRT, VA-BC on her selection as the 2016 recipient of the Suzanne LaVere Herbst Award for Excellence in Vascular Access. The Herbst Award is the highest honor bestowed by AVA, and is given annually to a member who exemplifies the AVA mission, is a recognized expert in vascular access, and who has made a significant contribution to the art and science of vascular access and/or affected outcomes for persons requiring vascular access.

Amy Bardin-Spencer represents the spirit of the Suzanne LaVere Herbst Award for Excellence in Vascular Access. Amy has over 22 years of vascular access experience, and pioneered the first respiratory therapist-based PICC teams in Arizona, and later pioneered the first respiratory therapist-based central venous access program in Arizona. Since then, Amy has traveled and trained multiple disciplines of clinicians in arterial and central venous access best practices. Amy has worked tirelessly, teaching advanced vascular access skills to over 1100 clinicians in the United States and internationally. One of the accolades from a colleague in her nomination stated.
