Dr. Amit Pawa is a Consultant Anaesthetist based at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals and works with Mr Gidwani at Guy’s Hospital in the NHS, and at London Bridge Hospital privately. He qualified from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ in 2000 and completed his higher training in anaesthesia in London. He also undertook specialist fellowships in regional anaesthesia and anaesthesia for liver transplantation and has been awarded the European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia. He was appointed as a consultant in 2009 and is now the Specialty and Educational Lead for Regional Anaesthesia at Guy’s & St Thomas.

Amit lectures internationally on the technique of ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and is an opinion leader in the field. He is a past Chairman of the London Society of Regional Anaesthesia (LSORA) and is currently President of Regional Anaesthesia – UK (RA-UK). He can offer Mr Gidwani’s patients excellent post-operative pain relief with ultrasound-guided blockade of the nerves of the arm. In many cases patients can elect to have their surgery awake, or lightly sedated, thereby avoiding a general anaesthetic altogether. The choice of anaesthesia is tailored to the individual, ensuring as comfortable an experience as possible, both during and after surgery.
