Amit K. Mathur, M.D., is a Transplant and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgeon at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He completed his undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Florida. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Michigan in 2012. During his residency, Dr. Mathur completed a health services research fellowship in transplantation. He worked with the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients on several projects focused on disparities in access to and outcome from solid organ transplantation, disparities in hepatocellular carcinoma care, transplant finance, clinical transplantation, and hepatobiliary surgery.

Dr. Mathur received an M.S. degree in Health and Health Care Research through the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2009. He has obtained support for his research from the Frederick A. Coller Society Surgical Research Fellowship, the University of Michigan Center for Integrated Approaches in Health Disparities, an NIH T32 research training grant in Surgical Oncology, as well as support from the National Institute for Minority Health Disparities of the NIH. Dr. Mathur's clinical interests are in multi-organ abdominal transplantation, hepatobiliary oncology, and dialysis access surgery. His research interests focus on improving patient access to complex surgical care, particularly transplantation.
