Dr. Amit Chakrabarty is a board-certified urologist and Chairman of Urologic Clinics of North Florida (www.ucnfl.com). He has been practicing adult and pediatric urology for more than 30 years in India, the UK, and since 1990, in the USA. He also holds professional responsibilities as Director of the Center for Continence and Female Pelvic Health and is the Primary investigator at UCNA research.
Dr. Chakrabarty completed his medical degree as the best medical graduate with honors from MKCG Medical College in Berhampur, India, in 1980, and his Master of Surgery degree from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He completed his residency in Urology and fellowship in Uro-Oncology (Research) at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, in 1995.
He is an active member of the American Urological Association (www.auanet.org) and a member of various societies related to his specialty. His clinical and research projects have been presented at national and international meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals. He is a primary investigator in various clinical drug trials and has been a surgical proctor and speaker for many device manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies over the last 25 years.
Though his practice encompasses all branches of Urology, his main area of interest is female urology, including urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse, minimally invasive therapies for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), male hypogonadism, and erectile dysfunction. He has many publications in this field.
