Dr. Amir A. Pahlavan, MS, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at the Yale University. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Master's Degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research interests span a wide range of phenomena in soft matter physics, from thin film flows and multiphase flows in porous media to collective dynamics and pattern formation. Inspired by experiments in the lab, he develop models using methods of statistical physics and non-equilibrium thermodynamics to improve our understanding of the underlying physics of different phenomena.
