Dr. Amir was graduated from the Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia, as well as from Leiden University, the Netherlands. Following his medical education, he trained in Geriatric Medicine, and in Clinical Pharmacology, both at the Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In 2011 he started his doctoral research, which has resulted in a Ph.D. thesis entitled: Clinical Pharmacology of Oral Tetrahydrocannabinol in Older People with Dementia.

Between 2010 and 2016, Dr. Amir worked as a Consultant Geriatrician / Clinical Chief of the Department of Psychogeriatric Medicine at the Vincent van Gogh Hospital in Venray, the Netherlands. There, he was also the president of the medical staff. Dr. Amir is extensively involved in teaching and research activities. He authored several research papers in international journals including the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Neurology, and Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Moreover, he is a guest speaker at various training centers.
