Dr. Amir Dorafshar is an associate professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery and neurological surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Dorafshar specializes in microvascular reconstruction, adult and pediatric craniofacial surgery, and microsurgery for congenital, oncological, or traumatic conditions. In addition, his areas of expertise include facial reanimation, orthognathic surgery and aesthetic facial surgery.
Dr. Dorafshar joined the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2009 and currently serves as Clinical Co-Director of the Face Transplant Program.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and completed a research fellowship at UCLA School of Medicine in Vascular Surgery. He trained in general surgery and plastic surgery through consecutive residency programs at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. In 2010, Dr. Dorafshar completed a clinical fellowship in craniofacial surgery and microsurgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland Medical Center/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
