Ameet C. Patel MD

Ameet C. Patel, MD, is a board-certified neuroradiologist and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in diagnostic neuroradiology, with expertise in advanced MRI and CT imaging of the brain, spine, head, and neck. His clinical interests include neuro MRI, neuro CT/CTA, head and neck imaging, MRI safety, and image-guided spine procedures, supporting the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical disorders.

Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Science from Trinity University and his Doctor of Medicine from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Staten Island University Hospital, followed by a Diagnostic Radiology residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He is board-certified in both Diagnostic Radiology and Neuroradiology by the American Board of Radiology.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Patel is actively involved in research focused on advanced neuroimaging, brain tumors, stroke, Parkinson's disease, dementia, and the application of artificial intelligence in neuroradiology. His work has contributed to the development of deep learning models for brain tumor detection, imaging biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease, and innovations in neurovascular imaging. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and serves in several leadership roles within Mayo Clinic's radiology information technology, MRI safety, and enterprise radiology operations committees, helping advance imaging quality, workflow optimization, and patient safety across the institution.
