Dr. Amardeep Thind, MD, PhD is Professor of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Family Medicine and Public Health at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, Canada. He also holds the prestigious Canada Research Chair in Health Services Research, and is the Director of the Schulich Interfaculty Program in Public Health. Trained as a head and neck surgeon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, Dr. Thind completed a PhD in Health Services Research at the Fielding School of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has held faculty appointments at UCLA and Heidelberg University, Germany, prior to being recruited to Western. His areas of research are primary care, electronic medical records, access to care for vulnerable populations, and health services research methods. He has more than 100 publications in international journals and has received research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, National Institutes of Health, World Bank, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and other funding agencies. He has acted as a consultant for international agencies such as the WHO, UNDP, UNICEF and Wold Bank.

As Director of the Schulich Interfaculty Program in Public Health, Dr. Thind led the development of an innovative one year MPH program that is taught using cases, which among the first of its kind in the world. In addition to his research projects, he is working on developing a free online repository of public health teaching cases.
