Amanda Jones PhD, MSc

Dr. Amanda C. Jones, PhD, MSc, is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Otago. Amanda is a public health researcher in population approaches to chronic disease prevention. In her role with the Burden of Disease Epidemiology, Equity and Cost-Effectiveness Programme (BODE3), she conducts primary research and literature reviews to generate simulation model inputs and to inform the selection of model parameters for BODE3’s cost-effectiveness modelling. Prior to joining the University of Otago, Amanda conducted her PhD dissertation work at the University of Waterloo on simulating the health gains and cost savings of a tax on sugary drinks in Canada. She also worked as a researcher at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), a Canadian research-funding body. Amanda’s research experience extends to a wide range of health domains, including nutrition, tobacco, physical activity, alcohol, and infectious disease prevention.
