Amalio Telenti, MD, PhD, is the founder of Trail Biomed, a company that brings industry-leading expertise to help biotech, pharma, and academia navigate the rapidly evolving field of data sciences. Prior to this position, he was Executive Vice President of VIR Biotechnology, Chief Scientific Officer at Human Longevity Inc., and professor of the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology at Scripps Research. Amalio Telenti trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic and at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He is an elected member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and a member of honor of the Real Academia de Medicina del Principado de Asturias.

His lab was the first to describe the molecular mechanisms of resistance to main antituberculosis agents. He led the first genome-wide association studies in infectious diseases and the whole-genome deep sequencing study of 10,000 human genomes and contributed key publications on the human metabolome and virome. He is a highly cited researcher, an inventor on 15 patents and applications, and the recipient of the prestigious Swiss Cloetta Award in Medicine and of the “egregie munia”, life achievement award of the school of medicine, University of Oviedo.
