Dr. Ward joined the VCU faculty in 2016 to support youth and families receiving care from the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition as well as the Neonatal Continuing Care Program. Dr. Ward engages in implementation research related to EBP in pediatric and community settings. She is an active member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Ward is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia and California. She graduated with her Ph.D. from VCU in 2007. While at VCU, she received the Deborah Braffman Schroeder Award for Research, and both the Outstanding Student in Clinical Psychology and Outstanding Graduate Student Teacher Awards. In 2007, she completed her pre-doctoral internship in pediatric psychology at UNC-Chapel Hill and received the Martin S. Wallach Award for Clinical Psychology Intern of the Year.
Dr. Ward completed post-doctoral study at UH and UCLA as project co-director and clinical supervisor for a MacArthur Foundation-funded research network designed to study the dissemination of evidence-based child therapies in public health settings. Dr. Ward previously served as the Training Director for PracticeWise, LLC and has trained over 1000 therapists nation-wide in the Managing and Adapting Practice system for evidence-based care. She also served as Assistant Vice President of Clinical Training & Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) at Hathaway-Sycamores Child & Family Services, the largest child-serving community mental health agency in Los Angeles County.
