He studied Medicine at the University of Pernambuco (1988), a Master's at the Federal University of Pernambuco (1994), and a Doctorate at the Federal University of Pernambuco (1995). In the period 1991-1992, he took a specialization course in Infection in Surgery, at the University of Wisconsin, under the guidance of Dr. Robert Condon, with a CNPq scholarship. In the period 2006-2007, he did Postdoctoral work at the University of Miami, in the area of Organ Transplantation, under the guidance of Dr. Andreas Tzakis, also with a CNPq scholarship. He is currently a Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco, preceptor of the medical residency at the Federal University of Pernambuco, and Associate Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco. He has already carried out activities as Head of the Transplant Unit at HC at UFPE, President of the Ethics Committee of HC at UFPE, and a member of the Technical Chamber of Liver Transplantation of the Ministry of Health, CNPq researcher and CAPES Consultant in Area III. mainly on the following subjects: schistosomiasis mansoni, bariatric surgery, infection in surgery, gastrointestinal motility and electromyography, and metabolic surgery. He currently serves as Head of the General Surgery Service at the Hospital das Clínicas at UFPE, Level 2 Researcher at CNPq, and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Surgery at UFPE.
