Alisa B. Goldberg, MD, MPH, is a certified Complex Family Planning subspecialist and the founding and inaugural director of the Division of Family Planning at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), the Harvard-MGB Complex Family Planning Fellowship program, and the Department of Research at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM). In addition to these roles, she also currently serves as the Medical Director of the BWH Family Planning Center and the Vice President of Research and Clinical Training at PPLM.  

Dr. Goldberg has served on the Board of Directors of the National Abortion Federation (NAF), the Advisory Board of the Family Planning Fellowship Program, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of Family Planning (SFP).  Her research focuses on clinical interventions that improve the quality of and access to abortion, miscarriage, and contraceptive care. Mentoring physicians who choose to dedicate their careers to advancing reproductive health and justice brings her much professional joy. In 2019, she was recognized with the SFP Mentor Award.

Dr. Goldberg received her BA degree in anthropology from Case Western Reserve University, her MD degree from Harvard Medical School, and completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Integrated Residency Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston. She completed a Family Planning Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), received a Master's in Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Policy and Management from the University of California, Berkeley, and served as an NICHD Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) scholar.
