Alice Lyon, MD is a full-time faculty member of Northwestern University since 1993. She is Director, Retina Service, and the Leonard and Bernice Endowed Ophthalmology Research Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Lyon received her AB and MD degrees from the University of Chicago. Following Internship in Internal Medicine at The New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical School, and Ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University, she completed fellowships in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Retina Research Fellowship at the Schepens Eye Institute.

Her career focuses on vitreoretinal diseases and surgery, clinical research and teaching. She has been the principal investigator for numerous national clinical trials including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, retinopathy of prematurity, ocular complications of systemic diseases, and pediatric retinal diseases. She serves on data safety and monitoring boards for clinical research trials and is actively involved in the education, training and mentoring of medical students, ophthalmology residents and retina fellows.
