Dr. Ali Alaraj practices in the Department of Neurosurgery at UI Health. Dr. Alaraj is fellowship-trained in both cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. His clinical practice focuses on treating patients with all types of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, including subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracranial bleeding, and acute stroke. His medical expertise includes neurocritical care and treating patients with acute stroke, intracranial bleeding, brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, complex dural arteriovenous fistulas, carotid-cavernous fistulas, carotid artery stenosis/occlusion, and intracranial-vessel stenosis/occlusion.

He has more than 200 published peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters and serves on the editorial board for many neurosurgery journals, including Neurosurgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, and Neurological Research. His research interests include outcomes of management of brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations; quantitative cerebral flow measures; computational quantification of intracranial flows; and virtual reality simulation in neurosurgical training.
