Alfred George is the Magerstadt Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology, and Director of the Center for Pharmacogenomics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Alfred George received his medical education at The University of Rochester then trained in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University and in Nephrology at the University of Pennsylvania. He developed expertise in the molecular genetics of ion channels initially as a research fellow at the Institut Suisse de Recherches Experimentales Sur le Cancer in Lausanne, Switzerland, then later as a fellow in the Departments of Medicine, Biochemistry & Biophysics and Institute for Neurological Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
