Alexia Daoust BS, MS, PhD

Alexia Daoust grew up in France and developed an early interest in neurobiology and molecular imaging studies. She first got a B.S. in animal physiology / physiopathology and in biochemistry. After a very interesting experience as a research assistant in a neuropharmacology lab, using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging, she continued her studies by doing a M.S. in neuroscience. She ended her graduation by a PhD in Biophysics at the Grenoble Neuroscience Institute in France.

Her thesis work focused on the development of manganese based contrast agent for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Then, she decided to develop an international career and moved to Washington DC, USA, to work at the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a visiting fellow. She was working on the development of new MRI methodologies for assessment in neurodegenerative diseases.

After 5 years spent as a postdoc, Alexia Daoust moved back to France and is currently a project leader for a biotechnology company called CortecNet. She leads scientific project linked to imaging methodologies such as Dynamic Nuclear Polarization-MRI and PET. She is also currently a special volunteer at the NIH and continues her scientific research with her collaborators.
