Alexandra L. Martiniuk is a Professor (Epidemiology) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney, Australia, an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health, an Associate at the Menzies Center for Health Policy, and an Associate with WriteMEDIA. Dr Martiniuk is also an Adjunct Professor (Epidemiology) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She was previously a Special Advisor on Health Systems Research at the Nigerian National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and a Consultant to the AusAID Health Systems Knowledge Hub in Sydney, Australia. She holds an MSc in Community Health and Epidemiology; and a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Canada. Her expertise is in epidemiology, health services research, pediatrics, psychology, and implementation science in complex settings - ultimately to improve child health. Prof Martiniuk holds greater than $25 million in research funding as a chief/principal investigator and has a total of 204 publications. She is the recipient of 29 awards and 6 national fellowships. Grants, awards and fellowships include those from the WHO, CIHR, SSHRC, NHMRC, CIDA, IDRC, CIGI, MRFF, University of Sydney and Merck, the President’s Scholarship for PhD Research, the MENSA Canada Scholarship, the Saturn Commitment to Excellence Award, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, was named a Paul Harris Fellow and was the 2020 Gustav Nossal Global Health Awardee from the Australian Academy of Sciences in recognition of her research and commitment to communities locally and globally.
