Dr. Alexander Kuo is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he specializes in hepatology, gastroenterology, and liver transplantation. He is dedicated to advancing the care of patients with complex liver diseases through innovative clinical practice, research, and medical education.

Dr. Kuo earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of California, San Francisco.

As Medical Director of Liver Transplantation, Dr. Kuo leads initiatives to improve outcomes for patients with advanced liver disease and oversees the Transplant Hepatology Fellowship Program. His clinical and research interests include liver transplantation, acute-on-chronic liver failure, alcohol-associated liver disease, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and remains actively involved in clinical research focused on advancing the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease.

Recognized for excellence in patient care and academic leadership, Dr. Kuo is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been named a Top Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine, is a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD), and is committed to mentoring the next generation of hepatologists while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.
