Alex trained as a chemist at the Higher Chemical College of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Biology from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. As a National Cancer Institute Fellow at the University of California San Diego, he invented new materials for imaging cancer immunotherapies in the lab of late Nobel-winning chemist and neuroscientist Roger Tsien. Alex consulted in the fields of materials science, vaccine development, diabetes, oncology, and medical diagnostics. He is currently a data scientist at CommonSpirit Health, the largest non-profit hospital network in the US, and the founder of Aumics, a non-profit focused on improving pain management through objective measurement of pain.
