Alexander Van De Bruaene obtained his medical degree at the KU Leuven in 2007 and his certificate in Cardiology in 2015. In 2012, he obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a thesis on 'Atrial septal defect type secundum and Eisenmenger syndrome'. He completed a clinical/research fellowship on Adult Congenital Heart Disease at the University of Toronto in 2017, obtaining a certificate in Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pregnancy and Heart Disease. He is currently a staff member at the Department of Cardiology.
His current clinical and research interests focus mainly on the treatment of heart failure in adult patients with congenital heart disease.
