Alex Hunyor

A/Prof Alex Hunyor is a retinal specialist with special expertise in vitreoretinal surgery and macular disease. He graduated with honours from Sydney Medical School, and trained in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. Following extensive training in medical and surgical retina in Melbourne and the US, Alex returned to practice in Sydney in 2000.Alex is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Vitreoretinal Services at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University; and a Clinical Senior Lecturer and member of the Retinal Therapeutics Research Unit at the University of Sydney. He is involved in numerous clinical trials for treatment of retinal diseases. He is one of the principal investigators in the Australian Macular Hole Study.
