Alex Bentley PhD

Professor Alex Bentley has been at UTK since 2017, as Professor of Anthropology. His early research focused on isotopic studies of archaeological skeletons from Neolithic Europe and Southeast Asia. More recently, he has focused on computational social science and studies of online cultural and social change. Author of over one hundred fifty peer-reviewed publications, Bentley spent fourteen years of his career working at universities in England before coming to UTK. One of his recent books is “The Acceleration of Cultural Change: From Ancestors to Algorithms” (M.I.T. Press 2017).
