Dr Alero Adjene completed her BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology at University College London in the UK, after which she studied medicine at Imperial College London. She has worked at some of London’s most notable centres of endocrinology and is skilled at treating a wide range of endocrine disorders. Her special interests are type 1 diabetes, insulin pump therapy and diabetic foot disease.

Dr Alero has a passion for education and led the team that developed the ICLDC Structured Education Programme, an educational tool to empower people living with type 1 diabetes. She is an educational supervisor on ICLDC’s Fellowship Training Programme, and she teaches the ICLDC MRCP Exam Preparation course and the Diabetes Educator course. She also undertook teaching visits to West Africa, in conjunction with the Royal College of Physicians London, where she raised awareness about non-communicable diseases.

Dr Alero is a clinical director for the Healthy Athletes Programme of the Special Olympics. She worked at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and the MENA Games 2018, training healthcare professionals to screen and contribute to the welfare of athletes of determination.
