Alberto Puig, MD Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Director of the Clinician Educator Service in the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. After receiving a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Baylor College of Medicine for his studies on molecular chaperones and protein folding he completed his medical education and post-doctoral training in Internal Medicine at Baylor as well, including a year as Chief Medical Resident. Before coming to Boston in 2006, he was a member of the faculty in the Department of Medicine at the University of Texas School of Medicine in Houston where he was involved in curriculum design and implementation, and directed a variety of medical and clinical courses at UT-Houston, where he served as Associate Program Director of the Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Puig has continued his academic and professional career with a focus on medical and clinical education, curriculum design and bedside education. In his role as a clinician educator, he spends the majority of his time in the inpatient teaching general medicine and consultation services. He is Director of Principal Clinical Experience at Mass General for HMS undergraduate education and Director of the Practice of Medicine course, the clinical course in the Pathways curriculum at HMS. Dr. Puig has played a prominent role in the design and development of the curriculum, which started in August 2015.
