Alberto J. Panero MD

Alberto J. Panero, DO, is board certified in both physical medicine & rehabilitation and sports medicine. He runs his own sports medicine private practice at SAC Regenerative Orthopaedics, located in Sacramento, California, and works with the University of California, Davis as clinical faculty. Dr. Panero helps professional athletes and weekend warriors achieve optimal recovery without surgical intervention. He embraces the physiatric approach to care, which involves looking at the whole person, and not just one symptom.

Dr. Panero also practices orthobiologics (the use of natural substances), such as stem cells and platelet-rich plasma, to heal. During high school and college, Dr. Panero was an elite athlete who ran track and field as well as playing baseball and soccer. He was part of the United States’ Soccer Olympic Development Program and competed in tournaments throughout the USA, France, and his home country of Argentina. Although recurrent ankle injuries cut his athletic career short, they also drove him to a career as a Sports Medicine Physician.
