Alan S. Curtis

Dr. Alan S. Curtis is an Orthopedic Surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). He also serves as chief of the Bioskills Learning Center, a facility where clinicians, researchers, fellows, residents, medical students and allied health professionals participate in hands-on training in new surgical techniques and equipment.
In addition to his work at NEBH, Dr. Curtis holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University and is founder and chairman of the annual Boston Shoulder and Sports Symposium. He has been the assistant team physician to the Boston Celtics since 1994, and was team physician for Northeastern University from 1996 to 2004. Dr. Curtis is a member of a number of professional societies including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and Arthroscopy Association of North America.
With a commitment to performing arthroscopic shoulder surgery, Dr. Curtis’ practice is focused on minimally invasive and arthroscopic primary and revision shoulder surgery. Most of his research is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder pathology, especially rotator cuff tears.
Dr. Curtis completed his fellowship at Southern California Sports Medicine (SCOI), and earned his M.D. from University of Massachusetts Medical School
