lan Johnson is the Head of the Department of Healthcare Associated Infection a and Antimicrobial Resistance at Public Health England's Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance and Control (CIDSC). Prof. Johnson’s work centers on the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in hospital and community settings. He also has a strong interest in infections in children and has under-taken enhanced surveillance of both infant meningitis and MRSA bacteremia in children in conjunction with the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.He is a member of the Government Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infection (ARHAI) and also the Department of Health Antimicrobial Resistance Analytical Working Group. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.
